Based on three years of of experience, ionysis announces a webinar to highlight how frontier AI can accelerate scientific product development through integration with laboratory workflows, data infrastructure, and deterministic scientific models
Freiburg, Germany, 22.10.2026 – ionysis GmbH announces an upcoming webinar, “Three Years with Frontier AI: What Actually Works in Product Development,” where the company will provide an inside look into its three-year journey of building and deploying AI systems for electrochemical research and development.
As interest in artificial intelligence continues to grow into scientific and industrial sectors, ionysis has focused on a practical question: how can frontier AI create measurable value in day-to-day R&D environments? During the webinar, the company will share lessons learned from developing an AI-enabled infrastructure that connects company and laboratory data, automates the path from sensor data to scientific analysis, and combines large language models with deterministic scientific tools.
Rather than positioning AI as a replacement for scientific expertise, ionysis has built its approach around augmenting researchers' capabilities and accelerating existing workflows.
“For ionysis, AI is not a standalone technology initiative. It has become an enabling layer across our entire product development process,” said Dr. Andreas Büchler, Managing Director of ionysis GmbH. “By connecting laboratory data, process knowledge, and scientific software tools, we can reduce the time between an experiment and an actionable insight. This allows our teams to focus more on solving complex electrochemical challenges and less on repetitive and time-consuming data handling and visualization.”
The webinar will present real-world experiences from deploying these systems in active development programs, including unexpected learnings from user adoption and the evolving relationship between scientists and AI-assisted workflows.
“One of the biggest surprises has been how quickly the system improves through actual user journeys,” Büchler added. “Scientists are increasingly using AI as a technical sparring partner. The highest value is not generated by automation alone, but by creating an environment where domain expertise and AI capabilities reinforce each other.”
Over the past three years, ionysis has continuously expanded its digital infrastructure to support research activities across multiple electrochemical applications, ranging from hydrogen technology, CCUS and electrochemical separation technology. According to the company, the integration of AI with structured laboratory and operational data is becoming an important competitive factor for advanced materials and process development.
“The future of electrochemical innovation will depend not only on experimental excellence but also on how effectively organizations can capture, connect, and utilize knowledge,” said Büchler. “Building this capability now is strategically important for ionysis because it enables faster development cycles, better decision-making, and ultimately more efficient commercialization of new technologies.”
The webinar will be moderated by Constanze Ulreich (Pausder Ventures GmbH) and feature Dr. Andreas Büchler (COO, Managing Director, ionysis GmbH) as speaker.
