ReCatalyst and ionysis receive ISO 9001 certification

ionysis-and-EKPO-visit-ReCatalysts-new-D

30.04.2025 - ReCatalyst and ionysis are proud to announce that both companies have received ISO 9001 certification, a globally recognized standard for quality management systems. This significant milestone reflects the companies dedication to maintaining excellence in product innovation, customer service, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency. ISO 9001 is an international standard that sets out criteria for quality management systems and is based on several quality management principles, including a strong customer focus, the involvement of top management, a process approach, and continuous improvement. Achieving this certification demonstrates the companies’ commitment to consistently delivering products that meet customer and regulatory requirements and sets a strong foundation for future development. “A key requirement for successful quality management system is the full and consistent support of top leadership across the organization. We take this responsibility seriously, acknowledging the skills, creativity, and customer-focused mindset that our employees bring daily.” says Tomaž Bizjak, CEO of ReCatalyst. “Receiving ISO 9001 certification is a testament to the hard work and commitment to technological excellence of our entire team.” “Our mission has always been creating value through revolutionary catalyst materials in order to enable decarbonization of the transport and energy sectors.” adds Matija Gatalo, CTO of ReCatalyst. “Guided by the ISO framework, we will continue to innovate, deliver exceptional value, and strengthen our relationships with customers worldwide.” “As project partners of the EIC Transition project ENABLER, ReCatalyst and ionysis collaborate in bringing our respective technologies to market. Becoming ISO 9001 certified almost exactly at the same time showcases how the EIC Transition project supports us on our way to becoming more mature companies”, adds Lisa Langer, CFO of ionysis. The certification process involved a thorough assessment of the companies’ quality management practices performed by SIQ - Slovenian Institute of Quality and Metrology for ReCatalyst and DEKRA for ionysis. Through this important evaluation, both companies have proven their ability to align its operations with internationally accepted quality standards. ReCatalyst’s ISO 9001:2015 certification applies to its headquarters at the National Institute of Chemistry, which houses its research and development facilities and testing laboratories, as well as its business unit in Ajdovščina with supporting processes. As ReCatalyst and ionysis continue to grow in the field of catalyst materials and membrane electrode assemblies for electrochemical applications, the companies remain committed to upholding the principles of ISO 9001, ensuring customer satisfaction, robust business processes and driving innovation across all areas of its operation.

About ReCatalyst

ReCatalyst, d.o.o. is a spin-out company from the National Institute of Chemistry (Ljubljana, Slovenia) founded in early 2021. The company's mission is to provide customizable next-generation platinum alloy catalyst solutions, enabling its customers' massive scalability of high power proton exchange membrane fuel cells with an optimized usage of platinum group metals. Since inception, the company has received multiple awards such as the Slovenian Start-up-of-the-year 2023 and 2nd place at the EIT awards in the Venture section. The foundations of the start-up have been developed within the frameworks of publicly funded projects such as the ERC ‘Proof of Concept’ StableCat as well as the EIT Raw Materials Accelerator. In addition to the EIC Transition project that started in June 2023, the company has also successfully raised an oversubscribed Seed round of 1.7M EUR co-led by international investors HTGF, OCCIDENT and xista science ventures.

About ionysis

ionysis GmbH develops highly efficient, emission-free and sustainable core components for fuel cells and electrolyzers. This includes the so-called "membrane electrode assemblies" with a significantly reduced content of perfluorinated substances. The aim is to further develop novel, more efficient and environmentally friendly membrane electrode assemblies and bring them to market.  ionysis started operations in September 2022 and has grown to a team of 25+ employees. The foundation for this spin-off from Hahn-Schickard and the University of Freiburg was laid by several publicly funded research projects. The company secured seed funding from two strategic partners.
